Dealing with CAD workload spikes
#1
I have noticed that when projects get busy, CAD work is usually the first thing that starts piling up. Revisions, minor changes, and redraws take way more time than expected, and suddenly the whole schedule feels tight.
Some people I have worked with handle this by choosing to outsource CAD drafting for support work instead of pushing their in-house team harder. Mostly for things like redline updates, cleanup drawings, or repetitive drafting tasks that do not really need senior involvement.
It helps keep things moving without burning everyone out, as long as the drafting team follows the same standards and setup you already use. Not saying it is the right move for everyone, just something that seems to work when deadlines stack up.
If anyone is curious about how that usually works in practice, this is one example of an outsourcing setup for CAD drafting support.
