I’ve tried a few PST conversion options, and DataVare PST to MBOX Converter Expert stands out when the goal is to work with PST files on a Mac. It supports ANSI and Unicode PST files and gives you a preview of the mailbox before conversion. I also like that you can choose particular folders instead of converting everything.
The converted MBOX files can be used with applications such as Thunderbird and Apple Mail. The software also works without requiring Outlook to be installed.
I’d test a few emails first, especially messages with attachments, before converting a complete PST mailbox.
