Is a portable jump starter better than calling someone every time?
#1
I run a small flower delivery business, and my Nissan van has left me stuck three times this year. Each time I lose a delivery, and each time a customer waits. The last time, a driver nearby helped me, but I cannot count on strangers. A friend mentioned Car Jumpstart Pros when I told him my story, but I could not tell what they cover or how long they take, so I never called them. Now I am thinking of buying a portable jump starter and keeping it in the van. I park outside near my shop, the van sits in the heat all day, and it does a lot of short trips. The battery is about three years old. Which size should I buy for a van, and how do I know if it is strong enough? Do these starters work in very hot weather, or can the heat damage them? How often should I charge it so it works when I need it? Is it safe to use on a newer van with a lot of electronics? Is it smarter to just change the battery now, since a jump starter only fixes the symptom? And if the van needs a jump every few weeks, could the alternator be the real problem? If you carry a jump starter in your car or van, please tell me which one you bought, what you paid, and if it has really saved you. Easy answers help me most.
