Retrograde ejaculation occurs when semen enters the bladder instead of exiting the penis during orgasm. Although orgasm occurs, very little or no semen may be ejaculated. This is sometimes called a dry orgasm.
Retrograde ejaculation is not harmful, but it can cause male infertility. Treatment for retrograde ejaculation is usually only necessary to restore fertility.
Retrograde ejaculation does not affect the ability to have an erection or orgasm, but when orgasm occurs, semen enters the bladder instead of exiting the penis. Signs and symptoms of retrograde ejaculation include:
- Orgasms in which very little or no semen is ejaculated from the penis (dry orgasm)
- Cloudy urine after orgasm due to the presence of semen
- Inability to conceive a woman (male infertility)
