My daughter is 4 now, and we’re trying to figure out the best next step before she starts kindergarten. We’ve visited a couple of centers, and it’s interesting how different they all are. One was very structured, almost like a mini elementary school, while another felt more relaxed with lots of play and creative activities. I’m torn because I want her to start learning the basics (letters, numbers, social skills), but I also don’t want her to feel pressured or bored.
When we toured one pre kindergarten learning center in La Porte, I really liked how the teachers incorporated play into lessons, like counting during games or practicing letters through art projects. It felt like a good mix. Another one we saw was very worksheet-heavy, and my daughter lost interest pretty quickly.
I found a list of local centers online, but it’s hard to know what’s truly a good fit.
If you’ve tried a pre-K program around La Porte, what did you like (or not like) about it? Did your child transition well into kindergarten afterward?
